Poker is an exciting game of skill and luck. In Poker, a set of five playing, i.e., Poker hand gets generated by each player. Every Poker hand has a ranking that gets compared to the player’s rank for determining the winner. The Texas Hold’em winning hand emerges as the champion in high-games like Texas Hold’em and Seven-card stud.

You aim to win the poker games by holding five cards of the best hand. You can accomplish the same by following the rules of the poker game.

  • Bluffing by betting, raising the opponent players, and getting them to fold up their hands and making them leave the game.
  • Getting the best poker hands at the showdown when two or more players present their hands after completing all betting rounds.

Some of the popular poker hand rankings that correspond to the famous hand rules are as below in descending order:

  • Royal Flush:  This one is a pure high flush of the same suit: A, K, G, J, and 10.
  • Straight Flush: In odd numerical order this one consists of five cards for the same suit.
  • Four of a Kind: There are four cards of equal rank in this poker hand for either suit. E.g., 4 Kings and Eight of Diamonds might be an ideal example.
  • Full House: Also known as a complete boat, this one consists of a pair of Three of Kinds. You can, for example, have 3 Kings and any two seven.
  • Flush: Here, whatever the order/sequence, you can have five cards of the very same suit. You can have King, for example, and Diamonds 3,4,5,6.
  • Straight: It consists of five cards of the same suit in numerical order. A hand, for instance, would be 8,9,10, J, and Q.
  • Three of a kind: It applies to the three cards of any suit, from any three cards of similar rank, along with two cards of any suit.
  • Two Pair: You get two pairs from two ranks each, with the last card (fifth) being of any position for either combination.
  • One Pair: It consists of a pair of one rank, with the remaining three cards being of any rank and that from any suit too.
  • High Card: This ranking means the person with the highest card wins.

You should remember this standard poker sequence in various poker games in conjunction with poker rules to achieve consistent results.

After the cards are initially dealt, the table/board players must begin to move in a clockwise direction. You can do any one of the following potential acts when you get your chance to play:

  • Check: This action shows that you will not bet (or open the betting). Only when there is no stake in the current round can you check, and the chance for action gets moved to the next person in a clockwise direction.
  • Fold: This action applies, as the name suggests, to the act of forfeiting your cards and eliminating the chance of you taking further step in the actual hand. You give up the chance to win this game.
